Clarksburg State Park
1199 Middle Road
Clarksburg, MA 01247

From the website (abridged)-

A beautiful place to view fall foliage, Clarksburg State Park offers 368 acres of abundant and unspoiled northern hardwood forest with breathtaking views of the Hoosac Range, Mount Greylock and the Green Mountains.

45 well-spaced and wooded campsites are located near the lake, featuring a modern comfort station with showers.

Clarksburg State Forest, located 3 miles west of Clarksburg State Park, is a 3,011-acre tract. This undisturbed forest land is popular with hunters and hikers. 4.5 miles of Appalachian Trail passes through the forest into Vermont and the Green Mountain National Forest.

Our impressions -

Located minutes from the Vermont/Massachusetts border, this is definitely a more tent than trailer friendly park, though there are sites suitable for popups and small travel trailers.  There are no hookups available and the park lacks a dump station so you are packing it out.  The sites were wooded, fairly private and the bathhouse was well-maintained, clean and modern.  On a Saturday night in August, the park was quiet and pleasant in the early evening.  It was approximately 80% full.  We did not have time to see but other campers told us the lake/pond was lacking so don't make that your main reason to be here.

Sites are dirt sites and driveways.  We had site 16 and it was acceptable.  We had to go around the loop backwards to get into our site properly, but park staff suggested it and assisted with stopping traffic to accomodate us.  It was easy at that point. Firewood is available at the office but it is cheaper across the street at a private residence.  This was a one night stay for us.  I'd like to camp here again and get the chance to explore the surrounding area a little more.  This park was convenient to the town of North Adams, MA as well as the southeastern corner of Vermont.

We would stay here again given the chance.
